Tired of manually moving files from your Desktop to a specific folder? Looking for an automatic method of adding downloaded images to iPhoto or to your Pictures folder, without worrisome and frequently broken browser plugins?
Then Hazel may be just the app for you. A fairly sophisticated but surprisingly easy to use program, Hazel is a PrefPane that monitors folders you specify for changes.
So you know, Hazel was the name of a housekeeper in a 60s’ TV show. I like that…it’s clever. I’m a fan of clever.
It can do all kinds of cool stuff to files in your rules, including:
Move file
Copy file
Set color label
Add keywords
Add comment
Archive
Open file
Import into iTunes
Import into iPhoto
Run AppleScript
Run Automator workflow
Run shell script
Run rules on folder contents

Courtesy of MacRumors:
Apple introduced two new features in iTunes today.
My Alerts
A custom page on iTunes which lists “recent releases from artists whose work you’ve purchased on iTunes.” Apple also allows you to sign up to receive Email notifications of these alerts.
Complete My Album
Perhaps more exciting is the “Complete My Album” feature which was previously rumored late last year.
“Complete My Album” allows customers to purchase the remainder of an album for a discounted price.
Did you know that if you’ve purchased one or more songs from an eligible album, you may now be able to buy the rest of the …

links
Due to the fact that I felt a tad nauseated each time I visited my own site, I’ve decided to remove all but the single ad you see in the header. Hopefully there will be enough interesting stuff there to prompt you to take a look.
That single ad will be seen on every pageview, and I’m going to offer the spot to other community sites to put their text only ad there. Only the Adsense and community ads will be seen in that spot, and that’s the only one you’ll see (aside from the occasional ‘buy it’ link for a …

Check out the new poll feature in the sidebar. We’ll try to be clever enough to come up with something fresh every week, but for now, vote and make your voice known, proud Mac owner guy/girl/person.

InsanelyMac is a great site…been reading it for many, many years. I hope it goes to someone who can keep up the high level of quality currently in place.
Good luck to Jason in his future endeavors. Below is the text of the announcement.
This will likely be my last Community Update as owner and administrator of InsanelyMac and The OSx86 Project.
First, the great news. I was notified last week that I’ve been accepted into a one-year Masters program at the university I’d been hoping to attend. I’ll be seeking my degree in Political Theory at a school where so many great minds have gone before me. I’m honored to follow their footsteps.
Now, the rest of the story. InsanelyMac, along with the OSx86 Project wiki and OnMac.net, is for sale.
Over the course of many sleepless nights, I’ve come to the realize that the schedule required by such a program won’t allow me to devote the time required to see InsanelyMac grow into the future. It’s been a struggle to do so over the past year, and all indications would point to a school load that’s 3-4x what I’m currently carrying at the end of my Senior year. A community such as ours needs a strong leader who will do whatever is necessary to fight for the continued strength of that community. I have served in that capacity as I was able, but fate now takes me on a much different path.
I’ve answered a few of the common questions I’ve received in this InsanelyMac thread. I’ll be giving bidding preference at the SitePoint auction to all InsanelyMac members, since I’d prefer to sell to someone within the community.
Thanks for making InsanelyMac such an awesome place to discuss and learn – it’s been a pleasure leading this community over the past 2 years. Here’s to many more.
Sincerely,
Jason Swadley

Our friends over at Keynote2Keynote have posted a pretty detailed review of NetNewsWire and their experience moving to it from an online aggregator.
