Parallels is beating the drums for their upcoming 3.0 release by sending previous owners an opportunity to upgrade for only $39.
Features being touted include these, featured in the email:

Damage of the Day
For sale: Macbook pro. 2 months old. Minor damage.
Why yes, that DOES appear to be discoloring due to some type of battery acid. Interesting.
Hole? What hole? Those are vents, for speed, dude!
Is this one of those new ‘peel and stick’ batteries?
No, it’s not really for sale, hahaha. After all, who would buy something that has [...]
New DRM free tracks on iTunes contain purchasers name
Of course this makes sense, but there are going to be those who think that DRM-free means you can freely exchange these files between machines and users.
Obviously that’s not logical or true though. But, just so you can see for yourself that your information is stored in each file, check out this hint from TUAW.

Dear Apple – Pack it up. Microsoft wins the technology wars.
Introducing, Microsoft Surface.
Click for bigger image!
Just kidding, of course. Just like everything else they do with cool and potentially useful technology, they will falter and fail. Assimilate and destroy, that’s the Redmond way.
Anyone remember WebTV?
By keeping ‘Surface’ under wraps and trying to maintain control of the project, they have done nothing but given their competitors [...]
New app: MailBadger 0.1
MailBadger is a freeware plugin for mail.app that shows the number of messages in an account/category/mailbox.
I like this feature:
There are only four built-in shapes for badges right now (I’d like to add a couple more), but you can add your own too! Go crazy and add your friends’ faces to display the number of messages [...]
Microsofts pathetic attempt at an Open XML converter
Microsoft has released a ‘beta’ version of their Office 2007 (PC) file conversion app, for Mac Office 2003 and X users.
Sadly though, it is hampered by being an incredibly poor gesture toward appeasing Mac office users. Some of the many things wrong with the release:
It only converts Word docX files – no Powerpoint or Excel [...]
Custom iChat/iTunes messages
An oldie but a goodie that I recalled today while changing my iChat message.
By doing the following, you can make iChat display much more than the default iTunes message (Title – Artist). Check this out:
Type (or paste) this into Terminal (applications/utilities), making sure it is all on one line:
defaults write com.apple.iChatAgent iTunesMessageFormat -string ‘Currently listening [...]
[Review] I trust you to kill me
Ok, perhaps it’s a little selfish of me to do this from my bully pulpit, but I wanted to post about a great artist you guys should check out. I won’t do this often, I promise.
No, the titular subject is not an offer. It’s the name of a documentary starring Keifer Sutherland and a [...]
Study: iPods can make pacemakers malfunction
Study: iPods can make pacemakers malfunction – CNN.com
Uh-ho…
iPods can cause cardiac implantable pacemakers to malfunction by interfering with the electromagnetic equipment monitoring the heart, according to a study presented by a 17-year-old high school student to a meeting of heart specialists on Thursday.
The study tested the effect of the portable music devices on 100 patients, [...]
