Microsoft to release Office 2008 for iPhone?

I don’t know what kind of crack Matt Veenstra from TribalMedia is smoking, but I do know that he should share it.

Microsoft can’t even get Entourage to work properly with Exchange…what chance in hell do they have of making a mobile version work?

But why did Apple wait? Here is the reason. Microsoft will be announcing and showing a demo of Office for the iPhone at the February event.

We all are expecting John Carmack of id Software to come on stage, and probably someone from Adobe touting Flash or such. But we were not counting on the big announcement from …

Over 7,000,000 served

I was checking out the server stats for BabyGotMac today, and found some surprising stuff in there. As you may be aware, the site runs Wordpress. Well, I’ve been using a plugin called ‘FireStats‘, which runs ok and keeps good live stats, but it isn’t so awesome for historical data. Countered with the fact that over the summer I made a change and forgot to put Google Analytics code back into the sites header and well — I had no idea of our actual accrued traffic. Until today.

We went live in the first week …

Use QuickLook to see the contents of a Folder or zip file

Ever wondered what was inside a zip file but didn’t want to have to go to the trouble of extracting/opening it with some bulky program? How about looking at all of the folders in your Downloads folder and asking yourself exactly what ‘untitled folder 4′ contained?

Wonder no more! An enterprising developer has created two QuickLook plugins that will show you the contents of either a zip file or a folder with the tap of your space bar.

Download this file from BabyGotMac (QL_Plugins.zip – 140kb) or from the developer (in Japanese).
Unzip the files.

Sorry, Steve: Here’s Why Apple Stores Won’t Work

BW Online | May 21, 2001 | Commentary: Sorry, Steve: Here’s Why Apple Stores Won’t Work:

A classic bit of punditry from BusinessWeek.
:)

Rather than unveil a Velveeta Mac, Jobs thinks he can do a better job than experienced retailers at moving the beluga. Problem is, the numbers don’t add up. Given the decision to set up shop in high-rent districts in Manhattan, Boston, Chicago, and Jobs’s hometown of Palo Alto, Calif., the leases for Apple’s stores could cost $1.2 million a year each, says David A. Goldstein, president of researcher Channel Marketing Corp. Since PC retailing gross margins are …

Clocky!

Hey, Clocky is finally for sale! Yes, yes, I know it’s not a Mac product, but damned if this isn’t awesome. I first heard of, and posted about, Clocky almost a year ago. now it appears it is finally available in mass production.

To quote my initial post:

Clocky is an innovative alarm clock that hides from you after the snooze button is pushed. It rolls off the table and randomly relocates to a new position in the room.
