Time Machine – in OS 8!

Check out this awesome story over on MacWorld about the OS that never was, Copland. Some of the things that didn’t make it in that revision (but are in the OSX that we all know and love now) include the precursors to Time Machine and Spotlight.

Adobe makes GoLive go dead

via DF

Adobe has discontinued GoLive, primarily because it sucks, but also because they intend to make the web 50% Flash and 50% Air.

Adobe on Monday announced that its venerable visual Web site creation tool GoLive has been discontinued. The company has ceased development and sales of GoLive effective Monday, April 28, 2008.

Adobe acquired GoLive Systems in 1999 and rechristened CyberStudio as Adobe GoLive. GoLive has gone through nine major revisions, culminating in 2007’s …

The ATT/ViewMyMessage rant follow-up

One of the most popular articles on BabyGotMac is a rant about how bad ATT/ViewMyMessage sucks.
However, since that article was written, there have been some changes – some enterprising young developers have found a way to make the limited functionality of the combined iPhone/ATT service actually work like any other phone (except, you know, better).
For instance, there id SwirlyMMS:

Which lets you send and receive (currently) only images – the video aspect of the iPhones personality is just coming to fruition, so be patient.
And of course there are now numerous applications …

AT&T Inc., the biggest U.S. telephone company, said first-quarter profit rose 22 percent on sales of Apple Inc.’s iPhone and savings from a plan to cut 10,000 jobs after its 2006 purchase of BellSouth Corp.
Holy crap. That’s alot of iPhones – and fired people. :(

Go Flock yourself

Web browsers suck. They really, really do even in this advanced day and age. Sure, they each do a few things better than the the other, but they all have inherent flaws that make using them a real pain.

Over the past weekend, I started looking for a browser that supported tags. That was my initial need – a browser that would let me tag my bookmarks so I could easily find things later without having to remember a url or page title. Basically, Del.icio.us in a browser form.

Then I found it in a program already on my system: …
