5 ideas for new iPhone Apps
I’m a giving guy. Heck, I give people my opinion all the time without them even having to ask, and I have been known to offer other drivers in traffic advice on how best to reach a specific destination.
So it shouldn’t be a surprise that when I have some ideas I can’t implement, that I give them away…that being said, below are some ideas for iPhone apps I would like to have/see.
If you use one of my ideas, please put ‘Concept by BabyGotMac.com’ somewhere in your credits, will ya’? Oh, and if you make money off it, I’ll take a cut.
1.) Voice Mailer - Select a voicemail message and have the option to save it is a ringtone or iTunes track or email it. How many times have you had someone leave you an absolutely ridiculous message and you wished you could forward it to a friend? Never? Oh…
2.) Sound Recorder - Record audio (or video if you’re clever) and have the ability to (again) save it, set it as a ringtone or email it. Useful for meetings, band recitals, concerts, etc.
3.) ScreenSaver - I’m even going to give you a name for this one - ‘iIdle’ or ‘iDle’. Make a screensaver that will show the current iTunes track name/time, etc, number of messages, signal strength, or other fun things - who knows, maybe even the current time/date!
I leave my iPhone in the Dock and glance at it occasionally, so it would be nice if it weren’t just sitting there blank.
4.) Where Am I? - Use the built-in mechanism that tracks your 911 location and have Google Maps pull up a view of that area. Not sure how accurate it would be, but if you were traveling or in an unfamiliar city, could be useful to orient yourself.
5.) Message Notification - I would be quite happy if a little box popped up letting me know I had a new message while I was in iTunes or surfing the web. Since the Dock isn’t always visible, it’s a pain having to go back and forth.
Another way to implement this might be to modify the menubar, adding an envelope or flag of some sort to denote activity.
So yeah, that’s it. If you know of any apps that already do these things, PLEASE let us know. And if you are a brilliant programmer type, get to work!
