A nice workaround to the AT&T MMS problem

As documented elsewhere on this very site, the solution AT&T provides to iPhone users who receive MMS messages is a kludge of epic proportions.

However, an enterprising programmer has whipped up a way to make it a little less crappy, although not necessarily less convenient. The good news is, no more flash based authentication with limited support for saving or viewing your files. The bad news is that you still need to type in the codes AT&T sends you.

getyourmms is the site, and probably the best feature it has is that it will email you your file for easy backup and archiving purposes. Simply enter the Message ID and password, then your email address. The site then logs into viewmymessage.com, retrieves the MMS and sends a copy to your email address.

There are, of course, some potential privacy concerns here - especially if you are one of those people who receives clandestine pictures of nuclear silo locations or nude people via your cell phone. But if you can live with that, this service might be a nice addition to your online arsenal.
:)

As with most things that are better than the original, one of two things will happen: it will get shut down or integrated into the original and charged for...so enjoy it while it lasts!

My apologies for the bad link - thanks to John Paul for the correction!
