actorwebdesign announces The Digital Actor Media Workshop

Los Angeles, California - actorwebdesign today announced The Digital Actor Media Workshop. The Digital Actor Media Workshop will demonstrate how actors and performers can market themselves inexpensively and effectively with digital media. The workshop will be this weekend Saturday and Sunday July 18th-19th, 2009, 11am - 7pm, 4949 Hollywood Blvd, Suite 203, Los Angeles, CA 90027. The seminar covers how to create your own website, reel, business cards, postcards, and more. This workshop is for actors, performers, musicians, etc.

We aim to empower the performer to do all this themselves, thereby saving them thousands of dollars. Hiring someone to do any one of these things can cost more than this two-day workshop. Learn how to save hundreds of dollars, if not thousands, by learning how to do expensive tasks yourself, like reel editing and web design. Get invaluable tools from industry experts, like how casting agents see your online submissions, and a feature film director talking about how he used technology to cast his latest project. It is our goal to make this weekend informative and FUN!

Saturday, July 18

Promotion:
Learn how to design business cards, postcards, and email-able headshots and resumes for agents, casting directors, showcases, TV appearances, etc. How to keep info handy for auditions and more! Also - innovative ways to get your image out there using customized promo products. We'll also develop graphics that support the branding of you as an actor. Thanks to GotPrint, all workshop students will be given a discount on ANY print job.

Movie Editing:
How to use your Mac and/or PC to edit your reel - importing video, editing effectively, adding titles, using effects responsibly ... all with the software that came FREE with your computer.

Publishing the Whole Package
Getting the reel to DVD, mail blasts for your showcases and appearances, and how to bring your staff (managers, agents, publicists, etc) into the act. We'll talk about creating an entire promotional kit you can use to promote yourself. Sunday we'll bring in speakers who bring together what we've covered so far so you can see it as a whole.

Sunday, July 19

Web Design:
Ian Schray from Softpress will be teaching a tutorial on Freeway, very easy to use web design software that allows people who are more artist than computer tech to create websites that show them off best.

Freeway is the easiest, most cost-effective way to get yourself on the web without making sacrifices in quality. Show off your headshots, demo reel and credits without having to mess around with complicated HTML code. Create exactly what you want in a clean, comfortable interface and Freeway will generate all of the code for you. And since Freeway only makes standards-compliant websites, you never have to worry about a casting agent missing out on seeing your work.
