Another reason I want to smash my iPhone

After finally getting my Christmas present installed (an Avic D3 head unit), I've discovered that the iphone doesn't support sending Contact data via Bluetooth. Sure it connects and pairs and the call works like a champ, but I can't see who's calling or initiate a call from the touchscreen of the stereo itself.

This means that my fancy handsfree bluetooth mode can't recognize my address book data. However, in a test with my daughters 3 year old Razr, it worked like a charm.

I hate it that every time I need to do something that a thousand other phones can do, mine can't. It's gotten to the point that the single-device sheen is wearing off.

  • It was really amusing how people got excited when Steve jobs showed you could now text multiple people with the iphone, something you could do with other phones for a long time.
First time I got the iphone and I decided to text message all my contacts my new phone number, I was really confused as to where the feature was in the first place.

It seems like Apple was so focused on throwing in features other phones didn't have, they forgot to put in a few features that phones have had for years.

At the very least, most can be remedied via firmware updates.
  • I am starting to think I should get a 3G phone other than the iPhone. Apple needs to fix these features or risk loosing the masses they have gained. Maybe the 3G will have all the improvements built into it?
