Custom iChat/iTunes messages

An oldie but a goodie that I recalled today while changing my iChat message.

By doing the following, you can make iChat display much more than the default iTunes message (Title - Artist). Check this out:

Type (or paste) this into Terminal (applications/utilities), making sure it is all on one line:

defaults write com.apple.iChatAgent iTunesMessageFormat -string ‘Currently listening to: %Track, by %Artist, from the album %Album’

You can change the verbage to anything you want, as long as it is between ‘ and ‘.

Next, while still in Terminal, type:
killall iChatAgent

Relaunch iChat, and your new message should be visible to you and those on your buddy list.
