iPod Search for iPhone - where for art thou?
Driving to work this morning, I had my iPhone playing on Shuffle mode. A song came on my White Zombie, and as I listened, I thought to myself that I’d like to go ahead and hear more from young Robert, both solo and with ensemble.
It was at this moment that I realized that the iPod function of the iPhone is missing a Search feature! What the hey?
As you’ll possibly recall, Apple added a search function to the iPod back in late 2006. This allowed a user to scroll through a Search menu and enter in enough characters to pull up a specific artist or album.
So I’m a little dumbfounded to learn that there isn’t any way to search my iPod for an item in my library. In fact, I’ve been poring through the menus, websites and docs from everywhere trying to make sure I am not just somehow totally oblivious to this feature (am I???).
Imagine the possibilities…instead of pulling over (or trying to do it while driving, ha) and adding all songs from ‘Rob Zombie’ & ‘White Zombie’ to a playlist, I could instead just hit Search -> Artist and enter ‘Zombie‘. Just like in iTunes, I would then see only items that contain the artist ‘Zombie’. I then hit Shuffle and am able to easily and quickly play those tracks.
So I ask you, dear reader, to please use the iPhone Feedback Form and let Apple know that we want to search our iPod library!
Don’t make fun of my musical tastes, Rob Zombie makes awesome driving music!
