Springlets - iPhone home screen applets

A very cool idea, well implemented.

Springlets (visit from your iPhone) are home screen icons that prompt you for input. Some of the options include:

  • Wikipedia search
  • Google ‘I feel lucky’ search
  • IMDB search
  • A ‘text site’ proxy that will display a site sans images, to speed things up
and without a doubt the handiest -

  • speed dial - which lets you enter a name/phone number and dial it with one click

As the site says, the Springlets work by prompting you for input, saving you the time and energy needed to go to a site, find a search box and wait for input screens. Instant results…very cool.

I can see this becoming alarmingly addictive.
